Eastern Yacht Club - CREW FINDER

This site is designed to help Crew and Owners / Skippers connect with each other. It is felt that there are many people who would like to race sailboats but don't have a mechanism to contact boat owners. The opposite is also true.

People using this site race sailboats in Massachusetts in the waters off Marblehead, Salem, Beverly, & Manchester.

EXPERIENCE:
I have no formal race training but have served as race crew on both big and small boats since 1995. Here are the high level details:
-Formal sailing training at the Boston Sailing Center beginning in 1995. Soling, J24, and J30’s used regularly. Learned light and heavy wind sailing on Solings and J30s. Learned coastal navigation from Boston Harbor to Isle of Shoals. Learned how to navigate heavy commercial and pleasure traffic.
-Crewed on J24s out of Falmouth for summer weekend racing series in 2003. Learned local current and wind patterns and occasionally tried my hand at flying the chute.
-Crewed on a Sabre 402 40’ with a Jim Taylor keel out of Marion for sporadic Wednesday evening races and occasional weekend series (2002-2004). Dealt with light and heavy winds, night sailing, Lightning storms, and rough seas. Jobs varied based on crew coverage.
-Bare boat charter in the Grenadines for 10 days (3 of us no crew, 1999). Consistent winds, strong seas, and easy navigation.
-Sailed 30’ S2  to and from Hyannis to “race” in Figawi for two years (2001, 2002)
-Pleasure sailing out of Ipswich Bay for the last 4 years. Mostly day trips with a trip to Portsmouth for an overnight. Return trip in pre-storm weather.
-Board member of the IBYC education foundation to teach sailing to kids
